CHS welcomed families and friends for its second annual CHS Family 5K: Run, Walk & Play for Adoption in Deep Run Park on Saturday, May 10. All proceeds from the event benefit CHS and support our 114-year-old non-profit agency’s mission to find permanent adoptive families for infants, children, and teenagers.
We kicked off the morning with a fast-paced half-mile Kid’s Fun Run around the lake. Then runners, walkers, and joggers of all ages enjoyed the wooded 5K course — including several strollers and even a few four-legged competitors! After the race, participants enjoyed food, drink, music, and family-friendly fun including a cool bounce house, cornhole, parachute, hula hoop, jump rope, and wiffle ball.
This year CHS added a Family Play Pack category for registrants who wished to join the fun without the run — and many did!
After the race, medals were presented to top finishers in each age and gender category. Every child in the Kid’s Fun Run also got a medal!
Thanks to all of our supporters, volunteers, and sponsors for another fantastic CHS Family 5K! Special thanks to our photographer Rassi Borneo with Timeline Media, and our race timer Mark Junkerman.
