CHS has joined Voices for Virginia’s Children to educate our state leaders on “Fostering Futures.” This critical legislation will allow Virginia to provide transition services up to age 21 for youth aging out of foster care.
“Fostering Futures” is the name given to the proposed legislation that will expand adoption assistance for families who adopt older youth from foster care and also extend foster care supports to youth up to age 21 by providing Virginia matching federal funds under the Federal Fostering Connections Act.

All this month, CHS has joined Voices for Virginia’s Children at the General Assembly to raise awareness for this important legislation. And on January 27 we will partner with Voices for Virginia’s Children, Richmond’s Better Housing Coalition, and volunteers from Richmond’s Impact 100, to host a Legislative Briefing informational session about “Fostering Futures” at the General Assembly followed by recognition on the House floor.
