Advocacy

CHS is committed to creating systemic changes to improve the lives of children and youth throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

We focus our advocacy efforts on improving the child welfare system, both at the state and federal level. Our advocacy work spans the spectrum from advocating for prevention services to ensuring youth who have aged out of foster care have the tools necessary to thrive in adulthood.

Our advocacy work is most successful when the community is involved. We host an annual Foster Care and Adoption Advocacy Day during each year’s General Assembly session in January. If you work in the child welfare field, have lived experience, or are just passionate about improving the lives of children, we’d invite you to explore how you can engage in our advocacy work.
