Adoptive Family Donation Ideas

During the adoption process, parents and children spend time visiting and bonding with one another. We would appreciate donations of gift cards/certificates for family-friendly outings such as movie theaters, bowling alleys, SkateNation, Jumpology, Sky Zone, Chuck E Cheese, Science Museum of Virginia, Metro Richmond Zoo, or local restaurants. Help fill the gap during the transition from foster care to adoption. Consider donating gift cards for clothing stores. The gift cards will allow for right-sized, seasonal clothing to be purchased for growing youth in foster care. You can learn more about how CHS supports our adoptive families by clicking here.

Amazon Gift Cards and Teen-Friendly Book Series Needed for WWK Waiting Children

Our Wendy’s Wonderful Kids (WWK) Recruiter typically takes youth out monthly for a meal and a fun activity to build rapport. However, many of the youth waiting in foster care are living in residential treatment facilities or group homes, where it can be challenging or even impossible to participate in community outings. In these cases, our WWK Recruiter brings the food and fun directly to them. Many youths in these settings long for comfort items such as soft blankets, pillow toppers, fans, fuzzy slippers, journals, and books. Please consider donating Amazon gift cards to help us fulfill these wishes quickly, delivering much-needed comfort directly to their doors! Please also consider donating new or gently used teen-friendly book series (i.e. Twilight, Divergent, Shadow and Bone, Hunger Games, Inheritance Games, Percy Jackson, Maze Runner, etc.) Gift cards and books can be mailed to PO Box 6266, Richmond, VA 23230 or hand-delivered to 4200 Fitzhugh Ave, Richmond, VA 23230-3829 during business hours. Gift cards can also be emailed to [email protected]

THANK YOU for your generosity. If you are interested in learning more about donating items to CHSVA, please contact Bruin Richardson, 804-353-0191, ext. 160, [email protected].
