We are at the tail end of the 2020 General Assembly session and will post an update within the next couple of days on how things are ending up. Spoiler alert: we may have some action items for those interested in joining our advocacy work!

As we finish our work this session, CHS was featured in Virginia Lawyer and it couldn’t have been timelier! Virginia did a lot of great work in the 2019 General Assembly session to improve the foster care system and the lives of children and youth involved in foster care. We have been working hard with our partners during this 2020 General Assembly session to continue the work, stabilize the workforce, increase opportunities for kinship care and support youth who age out of foster care. We are proud of the work Virginia has done but recognize we are only on our way to solving the crisis and we must continue the work in 2020 and beyond.
