Thank you for considering a gift to Children’s Home Society of Virginia, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Because of your generosity, we are able to continue our 116-year legacy of building strong permanent families and lifelong relationships for Virginia’s at-risk children.
At CHS, we welcome gifts of all types. We will work with you and your financial advisors to maximize the tax benefits for you and the value of your gift. Gifts can be deducted from your adjusted gross income on your tax return.

Here are the ways you can make a gift to CHS to support our impactful work with children and families:
ONLINE GIVING
Gifts and pledges can be made online.
KROGER
CHS participates in Kroger’s Community Rewards program. All you need to do is register your Kroger Plus Rewards Card online, and designate CHS as your recipient. It’s that easy! You’ll earn money for CHS based on your shopping, and Kroger will send the donations straight to us every quarter.
For details about setting up your Kroger Plus Rewards Card, please contact Donor Relations & Database Manager Marny Hackley at [email protected] or in our Richmond office at (804) 353-0191 ext. 180.
GIFTS OF STOCKS OR BONDS
A gift of long-term appreciated securities has two major advantages. It provides the donor with an immediate income tax deduction and eliminates a capital gains tax to the extent allowed by tax law. Typically donors have stock transferred from their brokerage account to the account CHS holds with Charles Schwab. Electronic transfer is the safest and fastest way to give stock to CHS. Instruct your stock broker to notify Donor Relations and Database Manager, Marny Hackley at CHS when shares are transferred to:
Charles Schwab
Charles Schwab Operations Center
P.O.Box 628291
Orlando, FL 32862-821
800-435-4000
DTC # 0164, Code 40
Children’s Home Society of VA
Schwab #1136 0106
Please note: Confidentiality guidelines for stocks and bonds prohibit CHS’s access to the donor’s name. Should the donor wish the gift to be acknowledged and recognized by CHS, please notify CHS directly about the transfer. In addition, unless the donor is identified, such gifts will not be reflected in the individual donor’s year-end tax receipt from CHS. If you have questions, please contact us directly at 804.353.0191 and ask for Donor Relations.
