Diversity Equity and Inclusion is a core value of CHSVA. We are committed to ensuring that our leadership and staff represent those who we serve and that we value the perspectives of all people. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace makes us a better organization and we strive to assure that our work promotes equity in the communities in which we live and work. To that end, we formed the DITTO committee (Diversity & Inclusion Team Toward Open-mindedness) several years ago to foster and advance our DE&I goals.
The DITTO committee was formed when one of our program managers led the organization to increase our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work. She organized a 4-part agency-wide training with Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities. Out of that training, DITTO was born.
The committee is comprised of CHSVA staff members who wanted to ensure we kept DE&I issues at the forefront and continued to move the agency forward. DITTO is open to all members of the CHSVA team and includes members from various groups across the agency who come together to lead our DE&I work.
Each year, we survey staff on the issues most important to them and craft our DITTO team plan around those issues. The plan consists of trainings, policy reviews, conversation groups and other activities to advance our DE&I mission.
