Let Love Grow at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Join us for this year’s anniversary celebration at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden!

Sunday, April 28

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Last year’s event at Main Line Brewery was a huge success, and we are excited to see the community come together once more to support Virginia’s at-risk children.

CHSVA celebrates 124 years at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Let Love Grow logo in blue, green, orange, and pink.During our time together at these events, we look back at our rich history, accomplishments, milestones, and families served, and look ahead to our future. This future will hopefully serve thousands more children, youth, and families.

We would not have been able to serve nearly 17,000 children, youth, and families without your generous support. Financial contributions are how we can fulfill our mission of finding a permanent, loving home for every child. Every dollar amount makes a difference in the life of a child, no matter how small it may seem.

Last year, 175 community members attended our celebration at Main Line Brewery to support Virginia adoption. The night consisted of local food trucks, a silent auction, a raffle, live music, and a presentation from keynote speaker Rob Scheer.

Guests also heard from adoptive families and CHSVA leaders.

This year, we have a lot planned for our anniversary celebration! The theme is, “Let Love Grow.” We hope to see you there!

Foster Care Adoption

An adoptive mother with her adopted daughter. The mom is carrying the daughter on her back. They both are looking at each other, smiling.Virginia has more than 700 youth waiting to be adopted. We partner with local departments of social services to find families for older youth and sibling groups in foster care. Youth are placed in foster care due to abuse or neglect and need well-equipped families to help them build trust and thrive within a family.

We train our families to be knowledgeable about trauma and its impact on brain development and behavior. We also support families as they learn to parent through challenges related to mental health, emotional regulation, reactive attachment, and trauma-based behaviors.

The Children’s Home Society of Virginia strives to maintain reasonable costs to the family when adopting children and teens because we believe good kids need good homes. We want to find the right family to meet the needs of each of these children. Being part of a loving family is important to all of us – especially to a child in the child welfare system.

If you are interested in adoption, meet our waiting children here.
